The Highland State Recreation Area in White Lake and Highland Townships, Michigan spans nearly 6,000 acres near Detroit, and protects the former Edsel and Eleanor Ford estate properties and the very special and beautiful Haven Hill Nation Natural Landmark area designated by the National Park Service… Come by yourself or with family and friends or educational groups to enjoy the great outdoor wilderness lands, wildlife, lakes and waters, and recreation opportunities of this amazing Michigan Recreation Area.

HSTA is the home of Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s former 1923 (100+ years!) Haven Hill country farm estate. Enjoy the wonderful history and natural beauty of Highland State Recreation Area, and see the work of the Friends of Highland Recreation Area volunteers. Become a volunteer!

Our volunteers also share the yearly Haven Hill Festival for all to enjoy… Summer foods, music, site tours, vintage cars, vintage baseball, and more…
