The Haven Hill Festival is this coming Saturday, August28 at Highland Recreation Area! The Friends of Highland Recreation Area are once again proud to announce that they will be hosting a summer event in the historic Haven Hill section of the park on Saturday, August 28. As many of you know, Haven Hill was once a country estate belonging to Edsel and Eleanor Ford. The historic buildings of Haven Hill (Gate House, Edsel Ford Barn, Carriage House, and Lodge Footprint) will be on display around the park. A self-guided photo tour will be available to the public in the footprint of the former lodge at the top of Haven Hill road. A shuttle van will be available to take you to the top of Haven Hill and back. FOHRA will have a large and informative tent display at Goose Meadow.
The “Haven Hill Festival” will be open to the public from 10 am until 4 pm in the Goose Meadow picnic area. A Model A Ford car show featuring the Livingston A’s driving club will be open to the public all day, and a vintage 1860’s base ball game featuring the Rochester Grangers will be held on the Goose Meadow baseball diamond at 1:00 pm. Users groups’ displays will be available during the event for public viewing. Food and beverages will be sold as a fund raiser for the Friends group.
Entrance to the event area is free to the public, while state park vehicle fees for entry to the park still apply. The entrance to the park is located on M-59 (Highland Road) east of Duck lake road and west of Bogie Lake road in White Lake. Go to www.havenhillfestival.com for more information.
