Haven Hill and Highland Recreation Area Film and Photos Wanted

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area are excited to continue the ongoing renovation and repurposing of the former Edsel and Eleanor Ford structures at Haven Hill. Many improvements have resulted from fantastic old photos of the buildings and property! Do you have any? Do you have friends or relatives that have any neat old photos of Haven Hill and Highland State Recreation Area? Share and preserve them for a good cause…

No old photo or photos are “bad pictures”… the volunteers will accept any and all that you may have that show elements of Haven Hill and the Recreation Area and especially the Haven Hill Buildings themselves. “People pictures” are also welcomed as they show folks enjoying our wonderful park! They are all considered a part of our area’s great history.

As a service for sharing your personal photos, FOHRA will digitally scan and then return your old prints or film or videos, AND send you a free digital copy for your archives.

Please contact the friends group by emailing fohravolunteer@gmail.com or calling (248) 494-8919 to arrange an image-sharing plan. We’ll help with the exchange of the photos and their return after they are copied. A short “photo release form” completion will be required as a formality.

Thank you so much!

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area (FOHRA) volunteer organization was established in 2007, and is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization operating under lease agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Within one of the most picturesque, fascinating, and historically significant state parks in southeast lower Michigan, our goal is to combine the former Haven Hill estate history with Highland Recreation Area’s existing amenities, wilderness, and recreation.
