The Friends of Highland Recreation Area wish to thank all of our Volunteer Members, Support Organizations, Park Visitors, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for their support of our volunteer efforts this past year at our wonderful Highland State Recreation Area and Haven Hill National Natural Landmark!

As we end the year 2023, please consider supporting Highland Rec and Haven Hill in 2024 by joining our volunteer group, donating your time and/or funding, and continuing to support our efforts to promote, preserve and protect the great history and wonderful natural resources of Highland Recreation Area and Haven Hill.

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area (FOHRA) volunteer organization was established in 2007, and is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization operating under lease agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Within one of the most picturesque, fascinating, and historically significant state parks in southeast lower Michigan, our goal is to combine the former Haven Hill estate history with Highland Recreation Area’s existing amenities, wilderness, and recreation.
